  • ALL APPLICANTS:

  1. All applicants must be 18 years or older at time of application submission.

  2. All applicants must have a Discord account or the willingness to make one.

  3. All applicants must submit three (3) samples and a portfolio. (For more details, please see the relevant role section(s).) Please submit works in both samples and your portfolio that represent your style and work the best, as well as what style you intended to use for the zine.

  4. All applicants must make sure all links are visible to the mods without signing into any site (this could mean Google Drive, Ao3, etc). If we cannot access any of your links, we will not be contacting you and your application will be disqualified.

  5. All applicants are expected to have fully read and understand the schedule and are aware of all due dates, agreeing that they will meet them on time.

  • WRITERS:

  • Please provide three (3) samples of works that best showcase the style that you would be using for this zine. All samples should be within 1500 - 2000 words with at least one sample being a completed, standalone fic within the word count.

  • One sample must be from Honkai: Star Rail. Mydei pieces are preferred but not required.

  • Samples will be judged on your overall ability based on characterization and how well you tell a story. This will include plot, flow, grammar, and punctuation, so make sure to send us your best works!

  • All samples MUST be SFW. NSFW samples will not be counted and may result in your application not being counted. Ship fics are okay to submit.

  • Please provide a portfolio. There is no minimum piece requirement. Your portfolio can contain longer or shorter pieces.

  • Zine expectations:

  • Writers will be required to create one (1) completed SFW fic between 1.5k and 2k words.

  • PAGE AND COMIC ARTISTS:

  • Please provide three (3) samples of works that best showcase the style that you would be using for this zine. One (1) sample must have a full background, one (1) sample fully colored and rendered. Sketches and wips are fine but finished pieces are preferred.

  • One sample must be from Honkai: Star Rail. Mydei pieces are preferred but not required.

  • Samples can be SFW or NSFW, but NSFW PIECES MUST BE TAGGED AS SUCH.

  • If you are applying to be a COMIC ARTIST, one (1) sample must be of a completed comic.

  • Samples will be judged on design, consistency, composition, anatomy, and backgrounds.

  • Please provide a portfolio. There is no minimum piece requirement. Your portfolio can contain WIPs/sketches.

  • Zine expectations:

  • Page Artists will be required to create one (1) fully rendered single page piece with background (or) one (1) fully rendered spread piece (two pages) with background.

  • Comic Artists will be required to create one (1) comic between two (2) to six (6) pages. Comics do not need to be fully rendered and can be in color or black and white.

  • MERCH ARTISTS:

  • Please provide three (3) samples of works that best showcase the style that you would be using for this zine. At least one (1) sample should be fully rendered and one (1) piece must be a merch design (acrylic charm, pin, button, etc).

  • One sample must be from Honkai: Star Rail. Mydei pieces are preferred but not required.

  • Samples will be judged on design, consistency, composition, anatomy, and how well they translate to merch. Backgrounds will be taken into account as well, if applicable.

  • Product photos are preferred along with the art. Please label each sample of what it is (i.e. charm, standee, etc.).

  • Please provide a portfolio. There is no minimum piece requirement. Your portfolio can contain WIPs/sketches.

  • Zine expectations:

  • Merch Artists will be required to create two (2) to three (3) merch pieces to be made into physical merch from a list provided by the mod team.

  • About this zine:
    To Rise Again: A Mydeimos Zine is a P4P (Pay-For-Production) fanzine dedicated to the newly crowned King of Castrum Kremnos, Mydeimos! Our goal is to provide you all with a zine featuring art, fic, and merch of our beloved Mydei.

  • Will other characters be featured in this zine?
    Other characters can be featured, but we will ensure that the focus of each piece is on Mydei. Our pin-up add-on will only feature Mydei.

  • Is there a theme for this zine?
    The theme is Mydeimos! This zine will contain both canonverse and AU art, fics, and merch!

  • Will AU content be included in the main zine?
    Yes! AU content will be allowed in the main zine!

  • Will there be NSFW in the main zine? Will there be NSFW in the side zine?
    No, NSFW will not be in the main zine. We will have a NSFW-themed Mydei pin-up add-on!

  • Will the main zine include ships? Will you have a shipping add-on?
    No to both. Ships will not be included in the main zine, nor will we be having a shipping add-on.

  • How old do you have to be to apply?
    All applicants must be 18 or older at time of application.

  • Will this zine be a for profit zine?
    This zine will be P4P. If there happens to be any remaining profit at the end of the project, it will be donated to charity.

  • What does P4P mean?
    Pay-for-Production means the zine and merch are sold as close as possible to production prices. This means there will be little to no profits earned from sales. If there are still profits after compensating contributors with a free book, merch, and/or shipping, it may be donated.

  • How many contributors are you looking to accept?
    We are looking to accept the following numbers of contributors AFTER guests:

    • Writers: 7 - 10
    • Comic Artists: 3 - 5
    • Page Artists: 12 - 17
    • Merch Artists: 4 - 7

  • Will there be any guests?
    There will be! We plan on inviting a few folks to our project that are a mix between mod choices and your inputs in our IC!

  • Is AI usage allowed in this zine?
    Any usage of AI is not allowed in this zine.

  • Do I have to make a new piece for this zine?
    Yes, an entirely new, never before seen piece must be created for this zine.

  • Am I allowed to share any wips of my piece? Can I stream working on my piece?
    No. No wips or streaming of your zine piece is allowed. There will be a designated period closer to pre-orders in which previews of the pieces will be posted via our social media accounts. If we see that you have posted any wips, you will be asked to take it down.

    Your piece and its contents should remain private until you are given the go ahead by the mod team.

  • Do I still have the rights to my piece at the end of the zine?
    Yes. Once the zine is closed and after the time period in which we ask you to hold onto your piece in private, you are free to do with your piece what you wish.

  • What are your application guidelines?

  • Will the content I make outside of the server have any effect on my application?
    No, with caveats. If you are found posting hate speech of any kind, harassing others, or any other type of harmful/hateful behavior, your application will be rejected. If you are found to be doing so while in the zine, you will be removed from the project. This project has a zero tolerance for such behavior.

  • Do I need zine experience to apply?
    Not at all! We welcome folks with any level of experience in zines to apply!

  • Can I apply for more than one role?
    Yes, but you will only be accepted for one role.

  • What will contributors be compensated with?
    At minimum, all contributors will be compensated with digital versions of the zines as well as the ability to buy all physical pieces at production value. If goals are met, we aim to compensate all contributors with a full physical bundle, and if possible, shipping.

  • What country are you shipping from? Where will you be shipping to?
    We will be shipping from the USA and anywhere that USPS will be shipping to. There are some countries excluded so please check their site.
